Clean score: the share of OONI measurements with no interference, out of 100. 100 means every probe reached the site, 0 means none did. Confidence reflects the sample size behind it.
OONI measures whether a website is reachable from inside a country. That proxies censorship pressure; whether the tunnel connects is a separate question.
A blocked site usually stops signup, payment and updates. A reachable site can still have every server blocked at protocol level.
Sample size shows on every row. Under three measurements: insufficient, no score.
Blocked: proven interference, like a block page. Mostly blocked: interference on 60% or more. Unreliable: 25% or more. Degraded: 8% or more. Reachable: cleaner than that.
Failed measurements leave the denominator; an error says nothing.
Every number comes from volunteers running OONI Probe on their own connections. Coverage follows the volunteers, with no paid network behind it.
China blocks OONI itself. Since 2023 the Great Firewall has blocked ooni.org and the OONI Probe app, shrinking the pool measuring from inside. Read the China numbers as a small, self-selected sample; weight confidence accordingly.
OONI is building OpenVPN and WireGuard experiments that test the tunnel. Current results flag nearly every measurement as an anomaly, including the United States, Norway and the Netherlands. Website reachability stays the signal.
